Tristan arrived on Route 1 with Flabebe, and followed the directions she gave by pulling on his lapel in different directions. Perception: [result]15&3:6:3,3d6,3,15&3d6+3[/result] Intuition: [result]15&4:6:2,3d6,3,15&3d6+3[/result] |

For a while Ruby just tugs you along the path, and you wonder how in the world there would be a secret fairy garden near a Power Plant. But eventually she starts taking you left, off the path and through farmland. As you near a thicket of trees, you hear the sound of running water nearby. She's taken you to the Okanaga River. As you get to the river's edge, Ruby points to the other side of the water. "Bebe!" It looks like you'll need to cross this thing. The river could be easily waded by an athletic individual, but you're a little unsure that your abilities would be adequate. There are some rocks poking out just above the water in random places, and many large tree branches hanging overhead. |

Tristan notices the tree branches hanging overhead. "Hmmmm." They seem like my best bet to get across. I'm not sure if I'd be able to hop on those rocks, he thought. "Barnaby, I need you to use Razor Leaf to cut down some of the branches of that tree," he directs the little Turtwig. "Aim for these here," he says, pointing to a few dead branches the tree wouldn't miss anyway. No sense in harming a live tree if possible. If anything, it'd be better off without the dead weight. "Ruby and Felix, wrap your vines and strings around the branches before he cuts them, so that they're tied together as they fall. That should brace the impact somewhat and span the gap better." This was nothing more than a well orchestrated play or Contest, he thought. Everyone had a role to play, a part to do. And if they all came together on this, it would work beautifully. Ruby lashes a vine to the closer tree, and Felix shoots a sturdy string at the other end. "TurrrtWIG!" he yells as a swarm of sharp leaves head toward the branch. With a large CRACK the branch snaps from the tree and falls (gently) down into the river. Thanks to Ruby and Felix's assistance, you only manage to get misted by a few droplets of river water. The branch is wedged between a couple of rocks and seems to be sturdily in place, and spans the river. |

Now with a bridge in place, Tristan recalls Barnaby while sending Ruby and Felix across the river. "Send out some lines!" he asks them, grabbing a hold of the vine whip and the sticky threads. Just a precaution, just a precaution, he kept telling himself. He stepped on the "bridge" carefully and balanced his way across. Thanks to your improvised bridge and safety railings, you're able to safely make it across the river. Your heart still feels like it's going to pound out of its chest though. "Bebe!" Ruby tugs you collar toward the forest, which looks much denser on this side of the river. Clearly this side has not been chopped down for farmland. As you walk in further, you suddenly hit a thick hedge that seems to have no gaps, is at least twice your height, and goes on for miles. #Perception check or any other creative thing you think may help |

"Hmmm, what to do?" Tristan thought aloud. "Ruby, I think this might be where you come in. Start chanting your lucky words [Lucky Chant], and Byron--give us a Gust at the hedge. Maybe we can rustle out an opening. And Ruby? Toss in a Fairy Wind if you the the chance, too." Tristan watched carefully as the Pokemon set to work. The Combee beats his wings furiously and the hedge bends in the harsh wind. Ruby's fairy wind makes the hedge seem not only to ripple in the wind, but in and out of reality. Her serene chanting fills the air with an eerie "Fla be beee, fla be beeeflaaa," over and over, causing the hedge to shimmer in front of you, revealing a metal arch with intricate floral details designed into the metal. Though the arch you can see a long, narrow path through the hedge, but you can't see the end or how far it goes. Before you even have a chance to think about the gate, you hear the screech of a Pokemon from very close by. "NEEEEEEE!!" it shrills desperately. You snap to the sound and see what looks like a little cotton ball with leaves hurting badly and being attacked by a large, vicious looking bird. How did you not notice them before?! Your Pokedex dings anticlimactically: "Cottonee, the Cotton Puff Pokemon. Perhaps because they feel more at ease in a group, they stick to others they find. They end up looking like a cloud." "Fearow, the Beak Pokemon. It shoots itself suddenly high into the sky, then plummets down in one fell swoop to strike its prey." #If you choose to engage in some way: Fearow speed: 18 Cottonee speed: 11 |

Tristan was just about to step through the gate when he saw the scuffle between Fearow and Cottonee, the cry of the little puffball shocking him into turning around. What was he to do? Race on in through the fey portal, or turn back to help? He hesitated for not even a second. He couldn't let Cottonee get bullied around like that. Tristan ran toward the Cottonee as fast as he could, pulling out a Pokéball as he went. "Felix! Try to paralyze that Fearow!" Tristan Speed: 10 Felix Speed: 17 Stun Spore AC(6): [result]6&6,1d20,0,6&1d20[/result]+3 Paralyzed on hit It was risky to use a Bug type like this against a Flying type, but Felix was his fastest Pokémon, and he had to act quick. |
