Jonathan, Tristan, Ziggy:

As you head up the stairs to the Lab, Professor Fir throws open the main door, having spotted you coming up the street. "Fantastic work, boys! As you can see, the Lab is finally back to its full glory, and I already have my staff working overtime to make up for our lost time. The Head Engineer called me and told me everything that happened down at the Power Plant. Taking out Team Eco and some enraged beast. Why yes, it reminds me of my days as a young strapping trainer. Maybe one day even one of you will become a Pokemon Professor," he says, oblivious to the fact that may not be everyone's idea of the pinnacle of success. He sniffs the air for a minute. "Do I smell a Stunky?"

"Anyway, follow me. I did promise you a few things for your help, didn't I?" Fir leads you into a lab to a large machine that's now humming and beeping away. "Just hand me your Pokedexes and I can upgrade it like I promised." He connects all of your Pokedexes to the machine, presses a button, waits for about five seconds, then starts handing them back. "Now you have my pride and joy - Pokedex 5.0. It's currently the most advanced Pokedex in the entire world," he says with a huge grin.

"What features does it have, you ask?" You didn't ask, but he keeps rambling anyway. The man really liked to hear himself talk. "For one, it will auto-identify Pokemon from the comfort of your Pocket, so you don't have to whip it out anymore. It also comes with complete text, voice, and video messaging. My number is entered in case you ever need me, or" he looks at Jonathan, "if you ever need to send me reports. It also has a GPS and a map of Kadia. But the most magnificent feature of all is that it's a portable PC! That means you can switch Pokemon into your team without being at a Pokemon Center, a most impressive feat. But currently the transfer takes a good 10 minutes, so it's not something you can use in a middle of a battle." He is absolutely beaming with pride. "Of course we have a number of other features we'll be rolling out in the near future, but we wanted to keep the alpha testing simple to start to find any bugs. But when I have a new upgrade for you boys, I can upgrade them remotely."

Tristan took a look at the Pokedex in front of him and gave an approving nod. "I'm impressed professor! This is quite the feat. Remote PC access is something I'd only dreamed of!"

He seems to be in thought a moment. "Tell me though, does it allow for any customization? If possible, I'd like to connect it to my Portable Grower system to allow me to monitor soil quality, temperature, and humidity. I of course know very little about how to implement that, but it's something I'd like to look into."

Kylar:

As you and your mom search, you didn't find his chemistry set, but you did find his old knife at the bottom of a drawer.

Dad's Hunting Knife - Main Hand Weapon
DB 6 Normal Physical Damage (2d6+8 + ATK)
Melee, Range 1

Ziggy listened to the professor drone on with a mixture of boredom and pain. He fidgeted and looked around the room until he sensed the professor was done. "That was... uh.... pretty cool with the computer and stuff... but uh... wasn't there some kind of reward involved?"

Jonathan pulls out the notes that he took earlier and hands Fir the data.

"I've been able to do some basic analysis using a Mareep and a Pachirisu; but, at this point, I'm thinking that it is creating more questions than answers." He points to the readings from his multimeter. "It seems that the reaction is quite the opposite of what I expected. The voltage never changes, but we see a huge drop in current at the point of capture...which makes no sense...even accounting for the added resistance of the pokemon, there is still no change in voltage."

Jonathan runs his hands through his hair in frustration. "This data would imply that there is no electric field around the pokemon, nor is there one in the pokeball." Jonathan opens his eyes.

"Which would mean that the electric field of the pokemon and the electric field of the ball cancel each other out!" He leaps out of the chair but then stops as he continues along his line of logic.

"Not every single pokemon has an identical electric field...if they have one at all..." Jonathan sits back down. "The data is leading me in circles. I need to do more research."

"Depending on how it's coded, I might be able to help with that..." Jonathan turns back to Prof. Fir. "What language is it in? Ekans?"

The Professor's eyes glitter at Tristan's suggestion. "Oh, you'll be fantastic alpha testers indeed, already coming up with new features... Yes, I would think it would be a relatively easy thing to implement, soil quality measurements, yes... I'll get one of my scientists on it, though it may take some time. But if you trainers ever think of a feature that could be useful, please let me know!"

Professor Fir intently listens to Jonathan's findings. "Hmm, fascinating indeed. Yes, keep looking into it. I'm impressed you were already able to get so much work done, though I'm sure you'll find more interesting data as you travel to more exotic locations. Frankly, I wasn't prepared to have a report already. Why don't you return to the lab tomorrow morning and I'll give you your payment then?" In response to Jonathan's other finding, the Professor said, "No, part of it is in Clamperl, part in Horsea++. Ekans couldn't handle something like this."

He looked at Ziggy, oblivious that he found his research totally uninteresting. "Ah, thank you for reminding me young man! Yes, a reward," he starts walking to his office and you've now learned you should just follow.

When you enter, you see four Pokemon eggs sitting on his desk that were not there before. "I don't frequently give out such rare specimens, but if you're strong enough to defeat Team Eco, then I trust you with these. And I rather have such wonderful Pokemon have an exciting life with a trainer than be stuck in a lab with an old man," he said with the kind of chuckle that indicated you should not chuckle with him. He gingerly picked up an egg with love and care. "These are from my personal collection, bred by Ms. Huckleberry herself."

He handed Jonathan an egg that was mottled with browns, grays, and blues, and had large pinkish gray spots.

He handed Tristan an dark orange red egg that had lines resembling a leaf.

He handed Ziggy a jet black egg that had electric blue spots.

It wasn't until the Professor noticed there was one egg remaining - a black one with different sized crimson spots - that he finally realized Kylar wasn't there. "Tell you friend to come pick up his soon. They should be ready to hatch any day now, and they should bond with their new trainer."

"Oh, wow! An egg!" Tristans hands went all over the egg, inspecting it. "This is really exciting; I've never had to deal with Pokemon eggs before, not really. I'll keep it nice and safe in my bag here with Cordy to guard it. Thanks again!"

#If nothing else here, head back to the PokeCenter.

Ziggy looks actually interested in the egg. "Thanks man! Cool looking egg!" Ziggy follows Tristan to the pokemon center.
