I have a breeder on my team and I have a couple questions. Do ghost Pokemon breed normally? The Pokedex describes most ghost Pokemon inhibiting an object or just being dead spirits and the PTU core never goes into it either. Currently I am having the breeder do their breeder check DC 12 and another player who happens to be good with Occult doing an Occult check DC 12. Next Question...My breeder wants to sell the Pokemon they are breeding. Is there a general rule for pricing Pokemon? Edited by Shock Wing, Jun 19 2014, 05:29 PM.

First question, by the rules, if it has a gender, it can breed true. Otherwise, get a Ditto. I really have no idea on this question. |

strictly by RAW, any two pokémon can breed as long as one of the following are true: They are the same egg group, and are one male paired with one female -OR- One is in the ditto egg group and the other has an egg group However, some GMs opt to restrict this further, based on how their campaign world works. For example, I have heard of GMs forbidding the breeding of most artificial pokémon, instead requiring Scientist's pokémon creation features to create. Edit: As for your second question, there isn't any rule on selling pokémon. Personally I'd price them based on stat totals and egg moves, but you'll have to be careful with how much you allow the character to make off of this. Edited by Kairose, Jun 19 2014, 06:08 PM.

This is really something that varies by game to game. Most GMs I know will allow Ghost Pokémon to breed, just like in the video games. Other GMs disallow all first stagers in a three stage evolution line from breeding or impose other restrictions on top of what Kairose mentioned. As far as selling Pokémon goes, that's not something we assume is part of every setting, and it's not something we want to set clear rules for because, again, how it's handled will vary so much. In some settings, it's legally sanctioned and prices might be relatively low if you aren't offering a very well bred specimen with unique traits, while in other settings Pokémon may only be sold on the black market. To be honest, Hatcher has always been a weird Class to us because it's something that is a very important part of the Pokémon world and represented in all Pokémon media, but its translation into gameplay can produce weird scenarios like someone selling tons of Pokémon babies for a huge cash flow - that's not really how we like to see Hatcher played. If Pokémon breeding and hatching eggs took a realistic amount of time, Hatcher simply wouldn't be fun to play because most of a campaign will pass by before an egg hatches. Given current hatching rates, it's very easy to break things by breeding tons of Pokémon to sell. Just things to think about as you run your game. |
