A Mysterious old man gives the party cryptic advice (it's probably Elminster... again...).
Well, you're no newbie to RPGs, eh? ;)

Ideas:

  • You come across a [burly pokemon] apparently breaking into a roadside dwelling.
  • An NPC from sessions past (perhaps a tutor or breeder) runs into the party.
  • A swath of trees has simply been knocked over by something that ran across the path.
  • After an initially friendly trainer battle, the party witnesses the trainer mistreating his pokemon.
  • A Ranger/Officer paddywagon rumbles past carrying apprehended criminals.

You step in concrete and are stuck with concrete shoes for a while.

One of your Pokemon build a box fort with boxes strewn along the side of the road.

A bank robber who is identical to you passes you on the street...followed by Officer Jenny.

A circus rolls into town!

You bump into another trainer and accidentally swap Pokemon. Before swapping them back, the other guy challenges you to a battle with each others pokemon for fun.

Cheers, folks, and thanks for all the help. These suggestions are wonderful. I think I have plenty now. If I think of any, I'll be sure to write them down here.

One of my players is now GM'ing her own PTU game, in which I am a player. Here's a random event I experienced.

- You find a lone, crying Plusle. It has lost its Minun partner. If you attempt to help the Plusle search for its friend, you are ambushed by a Wild Zangoose. DC 10 Acrobatics check to avoid the attack (which, if not avoided, is rolled ignoring all Evasions), then combat begins. You can defeat or capture the Zangoose. Plusle helps with Thunder Wave, but otherwise stays out of harm's way. The Zangoose is missing patches of fur - former wounds healed over with scar tissue where the fur won't grow anymore. If you KO it and move on, the hook is complete. If you capture it, its starting Loyalty is 1, or maybe even 0. It detests you and tries to run away or attack you any chance it gets. The nearest Nurse Joy can tell you its story - a group of bad people came upon its nest and tried to steal the Zangoose eggs there. The Zangoose fought to protect the eggs, but they were outnumbered and outmatched. The femal was killed, the male left for dead, and the eggs stolen. You also soon find the Minun and might be able to capture both the Plusle and Minun, since they will be grateful. So, in a single Wild encounter, you now have a way to debut the villains of your game, an optional sidequest to help the Zangoose avenge his family, and three potential captures. That's good GM'ing.
