Theme music is now mandatory

This part of the Pyramid looks starkly different from anything the explorers have seen before. The solid dark walls from before are now layered brick, which sparkle a metallic shade of gold.

It looks like a formal waiting room out of some big stone castle, with small tables and chairs set up, the kind one would see in a dollhouse. A large chandelier hangs from the ceiling, twin sets of stairs line the walls of the chamber, leading up to a small second story overhang of this tall room.

Aside from the big stone doors the explorers arrived in, there's wooden doors at the base of both sets of stairs, as well as a pair of red steel double-doors atop the overhang. A smaller door is also under the overhang, leading to a child's bedroom.

No living things currently occupy this room.

Stefan emerges into the unfamiliar space. He only momentarily notices the little girl before he fixates on the Arbok. It was aggressive, hissing and spitting at its would be prey. Stefan didn't know who this girl was, but he would not permit her to suffer a snake bite. Running up, he chucks his primary ball as hard as he can, aiming it between the pokemon and the human.

Krieger erupts from the light, sizing the snake up with a huff. The aggron then lowers its head, bringing horns to bear as he pulses with his signature, pale blue energy.

"Get behind him," Stefan barks to the presumed victim.

Merchant looks at the snake, and flicks his wrist forward, gesturing Persian.

"Cat, lunch."

The Persian leaps out, intent to stun the snake.

Two men--wait, could that one be called a man?--chased after the large snake and immediately attacked. Only thinking to protect it (and for no selfish meta reasons at all), the little girl ordered a thunderwave and threw out an apricot ball.

Arbok should be paralyzed, unless immune to electric moves.

IN THIS ORDER

Persian's teeth miss, and Krieger's buffing seems for naught as the girl's ball caps the big snake! (Level 15/Jolly/Shed Skin/Full HP)

Merchant's ball sails through the empty space, hitting Amaura. It doesn't trigger, and the dino is scarcely affected; just woken up a little.

The girl makes a run for the arbok's ball and scoops it up. She turns to face the two others. Not looking more than ten, the blonde and blue-eyed thing is probably the cutest little girl they have ever seen. In fact, almost to a sickening and unreal degree. "Why were you chasing that arbok? Did he do something---"

Her attention is almost immediately shifted to the bright red ball next to the icy dino. She goes back to pick it up. So much moving, she apparently has the energy of a ten-year-old. "What is this?"

She turns it over in her hands, inspecting it. The button is accidentally pressed, and the ball pops open, which fascinates her even more.

Merchant scowls, pointing his cannon at the girl.

"Merchant does not appreciate his quarry being stolen. Who are you, and how did you come to be in the Pyramid?"

The scope is pointed square at the girl's head, not pausing at all by her childish appearance.

"Also, if you break this you will owe Merchant 400 Pyen."

She has selective hearing as well as ADHD, apparently. "400?! If you paid 400 for this, someone lied to you. Ah...what is it, exactly?"

The snake removed from the scene, Stefan remembers that its would be prey was a little girl all on her own. A jolt of realization hits him. He didn't know how the girl had managed to get herself so lost in the pyramid, but kids were good for nothing if not getting into trouble.

"Come on, let's get you topside. Your grandfather's probably died of worry by now."

The girl compares the two objects in her hands. "So, you threw this thing at the pokemon...an updated version of my apricot, then? Shiny and made of metal; I guess that is why it cost a fortune."

She tosses the metal ball back to the not-a-man. Not interested in keeping something so expensive on her; that is just asking to be robbed. As for the metal thing he was pointing at her, she didn't know what it was and therefore didn't know to fear it. The other man said something curious, though. "Grandfather? I don't have a grandfather. I do intend to go...topside, did you call it?, eventually, but not before I've seen how much has changed.

Can you tell me what the date is?"

Stefan chuckles. Of course. A little kid running away from home would say that. She was remarkably well spoken. Not surprising, considering what I got from Owen before he disappeared too. Wait. Where is Owen?

"The date?," Well, sure, Stefan could play along. "Why, its the year 4210, in the seventeenth year of the crown prince Deoxysal. Be you a drilbur-folk?"
