Theme Music is now mandatory

Comparing Azalea to Goldenrod or Violet is a little difficult; on the other side of a mountain and forest, isolated from much of the rest of Johto, Azalea is a little more rural than the other towns of the tri-city area. The town's main attractions are a well and an old man, after all... and there's the Gym, too.

Jason gets a good sense of where everything is in Azalea Town; there's the Slowpoke Well, which he passed on the way into town, and there's the Apricorn Ball place on the other side of town, near the exit to Ilex Forest, and that place that makes Charcoal.

Cutting through the forest would take him straight around to Route 34, not far to Goldenrod. It is getting a little late, however, and it would be nightfall before he even got halfway through the forest.

Jason rubbed the back of his head for a moment and shrugged before heading back towards the Slowpoke well, to waste some time.

Jason heads over to the Slowpoke Well... basically a hole dug in the ground that leads to an underground pond. Obviously, there are a bunch of Slowpoke, but all of them are tame. Heading deeper into the cave would yield some adventure, perhaps...

(Encounter: 50)

Jason hears some heavy repetitive thunking as he approaches the water's edge... it sounds like punching.

Hearing the thunking, Jason made his way towards the sound, kind of excited for what might be happening out here.

There's plenty of water separating Jason from the other side of the rocky shore; it's either a swim or a search for an alternate way across.

Jason looked at the water and dove in, swimming across. He was really interested in this sound.

Jason swims through the still water, passing a few Slowpoke and Shellder on the way... mere chump change.

As he closes the distance to the other side, the thunking gets louder and more violent. With every blow, he also hears a subdued "CAW!" to accompany. Soon enough, he sees the figure of a tall fighting Pokemon with lengthy, muscular arms, smashing up a bunch of stacked rocks. From the water, Jason can't quite make out exactly which Pokemon it is.

Hearing the sound, Jason's eyebrow perked and decided to get closer. He moved slowly though as he didn't want to disturb the pokemon, just to get a closer look.

Jason gets closer, and is instantly met with a big ugly muscular Xatu teleporting in his face, staring him down (from below).

Looks like this bird prefers fists to finesse.
