While packing his things, Jason looked to the three Makuhita that didn't belong to him. "You see...they are trying to kick me out of the pyramid...but you guys can go back and relay the message...I'll figure something out."

Turning back to look at Mythrel, Jones adopted a faux contemplative look. "You know, I thought smart businessmen conserved assets. You'd think keeping one of the first people to breach the pyramid and explore it would be a priority for an operation like this. especially since there's plenty down there that he's seen that none of us have."

The Makuhita understand, and try to get in... but the door isn't open yet. Oh man.

"You may find those guards aren't very talkative. That's part of their professionalism. An important part! Opinions are dangerous in their line of work. As for him, let him go as he pleases. From what I've been told, I don't think that particular man would even bother talking to anyone on a daily basis unless they were stroking his ego, or his muscles. My professionalism tells me I've nothing to worry about if he leaves. If he ever wants back in, though, he must answer to me and me alone."

"Now, part three, of course: I'm going to open those doors now. And when midnight comes, they're closing. If you're on the other side, you're on the other side. You guys are survivalists, though, I'm sure you'll figure something out. Any questions so far?"

Stefan isn't particularly concerned with the 'closing the doors' bit. He had occasionally considered roughing it on the other side, just to make a point.

He clears his throat.

"Yessir, small question. You're opening the doors. Are you going to give us a task now or do we need to seek you out?"

Jones' eyes narrow. "Okay Mythrel, I think there's something you should be aware of before this little dog and ponyta show of yours goes any further. None of us are actually getting paid to be here. We aren't getting hazard pay, and most of the extra amenities we've arranged here have been set up at least in part by us. And you don't own this site, or us no matter how bloated your wallet or ego may be. To put it in terms you're familiar with, we're not your employees, we're essentially contractors, and due to our own investitures of time and pyen in this site, investors in our own right. Which means that you have to meet us halfway, when and if we chose to do jobs for you. We're not trained Poochyena that are going to get up and dance for you when you snap your fingers, and you have no legal grounds to bar us from entering the Pyramid. So stop being an asshole. A nice breakfast doesn't make up for a shitty attitude."

"Oh wah wah wah. Fine, will a paycheck shut you up?" Mythrel pulls out a pile of Pyen and throws it out on the table... 10,000 Pyen! "There's pay for every day you've been here, plus tomorrow. With all the potential profits you are able to find down there, that pay is more than fair, since you're the one getting the riches here, not me."

Stefan eyes the stack of py. That was quite a bit. With Jason storming out, that meant a bigger cut for him, too. Still, he holds his hand back, not willing to appear overeager. What the hell is everyone's problem? They're acting like this guy is working against us. Sure, he's got a shitty attitude, but so do we all. He leans back in his chair, hand going to where he felt Gram's hilt. Jones wasn't known to make calm decisions under duress, and things could get ugly, real fast. For now, he'd simply keep his mouth shut and watch them work it out.

Jones very casually picks up a bill, examines it closely... and then slowly folds it into a paper airplane, tossing it back at Mythrel and landing a solid hit against the other man's chest. "You entirely missed my point. Loose the attitude or you're not going to have anyone exploring this place that has the kind of firsthand knowledge that Stefan, myself, or Jason have. Hell, I doubt Merchant would even put up with you, though he'll probably take a bit longer to drive off. Because shitty bosses make for shitty working conditions, and buddy, the rate of attrition for those places is high. As sacrilegious as it may seem to you, money ain't everything, and with the way you seem to treat people, you're going to drive off the people that are worth the most to you if you keep acting like a spoiled child. Now, while you ruminate on that, what exactly were you planning on sending us in to do?"

Jason got all of his things together and headed back towards Violet City, wondering what he'd find.

Mythrel heaves an incredibly heavy sigh. The kind that bounces off the walls, seeming to drag on forever.

"Money, money, money..." Mythrel reaches into his pocket and pulls out a lighter... and lights the Pyen up. It burns to dust, carrying across all the food. "Am I really worse than that hothead Fir? You put up with him just to explore the ruins. If you didn't want to be here, you would have left by now. " He gets up from his chair, turning to the board he set up.

"There are many ways this talk could go, but at the end of the day, no matter what I tell you or how you berate me, you'll still be in those ruins, whether I want you there or not. Let us choose the easiest way."

"Now, about that task!" His mood seems to have done another 180... completely oblivious to the tense moment that just happened."[/color]
