Ecruteak City

The sun is dipping in the sky, casting a grim shadow over the low-hanging foliage of Ecruteak. The goldmine of history is easily any researcher's field day, especially those who study the history of Johto, and to a lesser extent, those who dabble in cryptozoology. The tower and a half on the north edge of town both cast a gloomy silhouette over the houses and residents... oddly enough, they all seem rather cheerful.

Everything seems to be run-of-the-mill here; Morty should be in his gym, and all other facilities seem to be in order.

Stefan assumes the role of simple-minded muscle. He had nothing to add that Jones hadn't already conveyed. Well, there was something.

"He also mentioned something about Goldenrod, but blurted out the Burned Tower upon further questioning, leading me to believe Goldenrod might be a decoy to distract our peers. If its not a red herring, well, we've got something big."

"Ehhhh..." Morty doesn't seem particularly concerned. "They're Rockets, why even worry? Ever since that kid stopped Giovanni and disbanded 'em, there's been all sorts of little incidents with former members, especially around here, but none of 'em ever go anywhere. Honestly, I'm surprised they can even get dressed in the morning." It seems like this isn't the first time Ecruteak has had trouble with Rockets.

The young leader crosses his arms and sighs. "I'm telling you, Rockets aren't anything serious. You fought 'em, you've seen how dumb they are, even! Just go there, bust up whatever braindead op they have if they've got one, and go home satisfied."

Stefan listens to the respected Leader, then simply nods in acknowledgement.

"Very well. I'm not afraid." Stefan jerks a thumb back towards the door. "Shall we go, Jones?"

Jones nods. "Fair enough. I just hope we don't bring the place the rest of the way down on us in the bargain." He begins to grin toothily. "Let's go stomp a mudhole, Stefan." Jones opens the door, and with a respectful nod to Morty, heads out.

The two men exit, and the lights shift back off. Someone mutters something as the door closes... something about adjusting the scaffolding.

Burned Tower itself is open as a tourist attraction; apparently a lot of the danger has cleared, and many families (and Ghost specialists) frequent the place. There's a large ladder down that many people seem to be taking to the room below. How could someone hide a base here?

Jones looks around for any areas that have been marked off limits, or any guards that have been posted.

There aren't any guards posted around; Ecruteak is a tiny city, after all. The bottom room is very poorly lit though, and is basically an underground chamber with scorched rubble scattered about. Gastly and Koffing may have been common here in the past, but not anymore. Now it seems like half tourist-trap, half arena for strange (or downright weird) trainers.

Rubble lines the wall in a few huge piles, but apparently it is considered 'dishonorable' to disturb the ruins of the tower. That might not stop thieves, though; from what Jones can tell, there are a few small covered caves. Again, no guards are there, but that wouldn't stop someone from giving the two a stern talking-to.

"Let's check downstairs Stefan. Look for any potential hidden doors, or anyone acting odd." Jones puts action to words, and descends down into the lower area. Pulling out his flashlight, he'll begin to examine the area in-depth.

Stefan follows, taking out both his own flashlight and his personal geology adviser, Porcino.

Nobody spies anything out of the ordinary... in fact, many of these corners seem like they've been sifted clean. Something to expect when many other people have been here before.

No hidden doors, passageways, or anything of the sort. Nothing seems recently shifted, either... this is a real dead-end! Some of the older people are looking at Jones with disdain, apparently upset that he's even touching the rocks.
