Ah, Johto. After spending the last few days in the staunch caverns of the Pyramid, it's nice to get out of the tunnels for a breather. The ever-so-familiar sight of wild Sentret and Metapod basking in sunlight is a contrasting image from what's been featured lately on this journey, and even the sound of young Trainers battling is also somewhat refreshing.

Coming from Violet, there are two paths: one to the Ruins of Alph (south), and one that heads toward Goldenrod (west).

The throw is good, but the ball rolls harmlessly off of Alpha Shroom's face, not triggering at all. The Leech Life attempt similarly fails, with B (since D is downed) swiftly spinning and dodging.

"I said it was mine!" Jones snarls, palming a pokeball. "Digger, Faint Attack!" The Trapinch, having weathered the assaults on its person, makes a show of fumbling an attempted strike at the Alpha Shroomish, before pivoting on his forelegs and spinning around to smack into the mon's side with his heavy head.
Faint Attack cannot miss.

Digger slams the Alpha down, and it is unable to parry the ball... which locks on it.

SHINY

Whatever Shroomish remain scatter at the capture of their leader.

Jones stiffly pulls out his pokedex and taps a few buttons. After a moment one of the pokeballs on his belt vanishes in the flash of light that signifies the use of the PC teleportation system. Bending down, he picks up the pokeball, and recalls Digger after giving the mon a treat. "You go on ahead without me. I need to return to the camp and get a paralyze heal for myself and healing for Inferno and Digger. I'll just slow you down like this. Inei, please find Jason and make sure he hasn't done anything stupid." With that Jones will begin limping back towards the camp. Thankfully they hadn't gotten too far yet, so it shouldn't take him that long to get back.

"Very well. I will go on ahead, take care of yourself."

Inei carries on like he did, stoically towards the city to the west, picking up the scattered Pokeballs of his. Boyaketa returns to Inei's shoulder, happy and sated.

Inei goes onward, and looks to hit a fork in the road; continuing west will take him through the National Park, while heading South will lead him down a direct route to Goldenrod. Shortcut versus the scenic route.

Short Cut! He has no time to dally with national parks. If he wanted a national park, he'd have stayed at the pyramid.

Inei heads down the south path, straight toward Goldenrod, somehow able to resist the tantalizing call of the many bugs that lie within. Goldenrod is just a straight shot down the route now!

As he progresses south, Inei is suddenly startled by the call of a young voice to the side of the route; it's a girl, presumably a trainer. She makes her way hurriedly toward the ranger, a Pidgey perched on her shoulder, which scrawks at the Joltik perched on his own. "Hey! You train bugs? I betcha can't beat my birds!"

"It is true that Birds hold a significant advantage to bugs, but I'd like to test my training. Let's see if I really can't beat your birds."

Inei gives Boyaketa a wink to advance.

"My Pidgey will take care of that bug for you!" The bird advances as its name is called, small, but still twice as large as Boyaketa. (Speed 8)
