The island of Cinnabar is a small one, but its Trainers are notoriously tough. It's famous for having one of the strongest Gyms around, but the people are also quite hospitable. It's rumored that some research went on here once, but that's a rumor spread the robbers and vandals of the massive Mansion to the north... next to the active volcano.

It's certainly not a blank!

It's a Rattata. (5/whatever)

Merchant hmphs before pocketing it.

Well, good enough.

He waits above deck for something to happen.

Hours pass... boring, uneventful hours.

After those few hours, Merchant spies some Goldeen splashing off of the port side, close to the ship.

Briefly considering heckling the Goldeen, merchant decides to wait. It wasn't worth the trouble.

Merchant waits some more... an hour more.

The moment he gets bored and turns around, he's greeted with the sight of a man sitting cross-legged on top of the cabin, high above Merchant. He appears to be meditating.

Merchant sighs. Was this some kind of bizarre trial? So many weirdos.

Well, who was he to interrupt the mans meditation. Unless the man came to him he would quite stubbornly ignore the meditating man. He was here for business. Not for being heckled by people with no worth to him.

There is no vacation Merchant, it seems.

Merchant continues to wait... and as the sun hits the horizon, the image of Cinnabar appears on the edge of the ship's view! After about a half-hour, all of the passengers on board are out of the ship. Afrodonis in particular has scurried off toward the Center, while the other two passengers have gone their own ways. Merchant is left alone on the shore.

Merchant heads to the Center to heal up Koffing, while also listening in on what rumors he can hear. Rumors are always a good start when visiting a new place, he's found.

From there, he heads to the Research Center, to look for the resident professor.

Rumors abound... but the only thing Merchant seems to hear about are living fossils and Ditto over by the abandoned mansion. Of course, he was here for the former.

Going toward the research center, Merchant finds surprisingly few scientists. After a while of walking, he finds an old, decrepit building on the side of town, with a massive gross sign reading "Fossil Research Facility". Seems a little neglected.

Merchant mentally notes that he should check out the abandoned mansion, but continues anyway to the center.

Noting the buildings neglect, but not being swayed, he shamelessly walks inside to see what he can find.
