The island of Cinnabar is a small one, but its Trainers are notoriously tough. It's famous for having one of the strongest Gyms around, but the people are also quite hospitable. It's rumored that some research went on here once, but that's a rumor spread the robbers and vandals of the massive Mansion to the north... next to the active volcano. Pokemon Mart

Merchant heads toward the Gym; finally one building that doesn't look completely trashed. As soon as he steps in, he's greeted by about ten trainers, twenty Magmar, and one chrome-dome Gym Leader. "Here for a challenge, youngster?" |

Merchant almost bolts away out of instinct, but manages to stand his ground. "No. Merchant has been hired to build new Revitalization machines and needs access to the old lab." What vigorous gym... |

"Hmmm..." Blaine goes deep into thought. It seems that's a common thing here, old people taking a while to think. "Well, if that old coot gave you permission, it must be important!" Who's he calling old coot? "I guess I'll allow it. Here, take this key and map." The leader snatches a key from a nearby drawer, a map from a table, and gives it to the Merchant. "Just don't come crying to us when you get a bad case of... heartburn!" |

Merchant quickly takes the key and map and walks out the door. Merchant had one secret hatred in his life. And that was puns. But he would not dignify such a man with a response. While it was getting dark out, Merchant could care less. He heads back to the abandoned lab, ready to continue his quest. |

Merchant goes back toward the mansion, practically next door to the gym. The key fits the lock (not like he needed it), and Merchant heads in... The interior of the laboratory is extravagant, but has obviously seen better days. The red velvet rug that lines the floor is tattered, dilapidated curtains hardly keep out the moonlight, and litter is piled high above Merchant's head in every corner. Skittering through some of the more distant piles are some wild Vulpix... scavengers, apparently. |

Merchant doesn't hesitate in the slightest, and he jumps forward, tossing pokeballs. One is aimed for a vulpix, the other sending out Basculin. [result]16&16,1d20,0,16&1d20[/result] [result]45&45,1d100,0,45&1d100[/result]-7 |

Merchant's ball catches the Vulpix completely off-guard... it can't struggle from such a point, and is captured. (16/Flash Fire/Modest) Four more Vulpix leap from the pile. They are not happy about their friend suddenly vanishing, and charge at Merchant! Initiative |

Basculin picks one out and sprays a whole load of water at it! Seems the fish is just as aggressive out of water as in. [result]30&4:3,2d6,23,30&2d6+23[/result] |
