Theme Music is now mandatory

The torches lining the gravelly passageway abruptly stop, but the cavernous passageway is still seemingly lit. After a minute of shuffling, the source becomes obvious: bio-luminescent crystals are growing in the wall! They are small and round, but give off great amounts of light. The passage carries on for a while under this crystal light, but finally opens up into a bigger room.

The room in question is somewhat round and appears centralized, as two other passages split out the back wall and the right wall. The walls are not far from each other, ceiling is rather low, and there is no decor to be had. A few chests line the left wall, but most are open and obviously empty. A few barrels of gear, similar to the factory, sit next to the back passage's entrance. The back passage also is lined with wooden supports, to suggest the look of a mining operation.

Stefan continues his work. He's quite curious about what they're digging out, and if the sawk didn't mind their presence, he couldn't imagine that the throh overseer would be particularly upset with free labor.

The Throh stirs more, and leaps up to its feet, pickaxe in hand. He looks at Stefan, the only human in the room (presumably), and walks toward him, moving him gently out of the way as the Throh faces the wall. The Sawk step back as well.

With a single swing, the Throh slams the pick into the rigid stone... and he blows apart a five-meter square of it apart! The Sawk move in to clear the debris.

(Luck 46) In that collapsed mess of debris, they dig up some kind of wooden trunk!

Stefan has his own crew help push some of the rubble out of the way. He slowly makes his way over to the trunk and places a hand on it while watching for a reaction, before attempting to open it.

The Sawk all look at him, but don't stop him. The Throh is more concerned with the clearing of the rubble from the extended brick wall.

...

Was he just a ghost to these pokemon!?

With the Throh out of the room's center, Barnaby moves to the pokeball-shaped indent. He attempts to place his empty Great Ball within, figuring a pokeball best fits in a pokeball-shaped hole.

The Great Ball is the perfect size, but not the proper tool for the job; there's no reaction to it being placed in the divot.

Stefan glances back at Barnaby.

"Yeah, most of the Pokemon around here are pretty neutral to our presence. Makes it hard to justify capturing them sometimes."

He pops open the trunk.

Barnaby instead tries popping in various occupied pokeballs to probe for a reaction, starting with Rippleweave. Maybe it's sensitive to that sort of thing?

Stefan opens the old, dusty trunk... which contains a hefty-looking bone, surrounded by bits of rock and dust. It's a Thick Bone! A Cubone would love this.

Barnaby's balls (lol) all fit the divot nice and snug, but none of them trigger any sort of reaction. The Sawk are curious as to what those devices are... they seem like the perfect thing to go in, after all.

"Hmm? These? These are Pokeballs! Portable storage devices good lads!"

Barnaby demonstrates the functionality of the pokeballs by releasing Colonel Cloperton from his ball. He then recalls and re-releases Cloperton to get the idea across.

"These devices though, they're likely too new. In older times, peoples used to create similar devices from Apricorns. Perhaps this ancient device requires similar ancient pokeballs to go with it! Or, a similarly-shaped key. Quite the conundrum isn't it?"
