Theme Music is now mandatory

The torches lining the gravelly passageway abruptly stop, but the cavernous passageway is still seemingly lit. After a minute of shuffling, the source becomes obvious: bio-luminescent crystals are growing in the wall! They are small and round, but give off great amounts of light. The passage carries on for a while under this crystal light, but finally opens up into a bigger room.

The room in question is somewhat round and appears centralized, as two other passages split out the back wall and the right wall. The walls are not far from each other, ceiling is rather low, and there is no decor to be had. A few chests line the left wall, but most are open and obviously empty. A few barrels of gear, similar to the factory, sit next to the back passage's entrance. The back passage also is lined with wooden supports, to suggest the look of a mining operation.

"Hey! Stover! I found a Throh insignia on all that gear in the tunnel entrance! Think it means anything?"

Barnaby also emerges from the tunnel... and stares at the work crew. Oh.

Having studied the habits of Sawk and Throh before, he makes the assumption that disturbing the Sawk miners would be just as big a crime to them as would disturbing a training session. He instead moves to the Throh foreman and gives a bow to show respect. The two of them WERE intruding on their operation after all, and manners brings forth greater tolerance.

(Sawk Focus: 22, 19, 23, 14, 25)

Three of the Sawk don't look to acknowledge Barnaby. Two briefly look up, a little confused, but quickly go back to their mining.

...well, they're being tolerated at least.

Barnaby moves around the room, being careful not to get in the way of the miners. he stops at the wall and inspects the stone for dust, or indication of how old it might be. If these Sawk were CONSTRUCTING the ruins on their own, this could be a breakthrough! A closed and self-expanding environment, that would be an amazing discovery for the surface!

Barnaby's inspection turns up that... this place is old. Very old.

The Sawk don't look like they're constructing; only destructing rock wall for more space. They're revealing more of the brick wall, but are careful not to actually hit it with their picks.

"Looks like they're digging out the wall. I wonder why they don't just burst through it though." Stefan sizes up the task. "Would you be interested in helping? I've got a Pokemon that can swing a pick and another that works just as well. We'd probably nearly double their work force, but it might take a while."

...an excavation site?

IN THE EXCAVATION SITE! Oh this was rich! Almost like looking into a mirror, a genuine society amongst secluded creatures! This would be the thing he would love to write a dissertation on!

Oooooh, if only he could ask them what they were excavating. Did they even know themselves?

Regardless, this was worth further investigation! Barnaby approached the Throh, pickaxe in hand. He pointed to the pick and the walls to gesture as to how he could assist with their work.

"Well, I've got my arms, maybe the Sergent could help. He's a delicate touch; raw power with careful precision. He'd be able to chip close to the wall and not break through. Could be helpful."

Stefan digs his own pick out of his bag, following Barnaby's lead. If given the green light, he would have Salz grab one of the spares while Krieger used his hefty iron head to smash through some of the stone as well. Porcino and Blackmaw, his burrowing Pokemon, might be of assistance as well.

The Sawk offer no acceptance or denial of the help; they're very focused on the task at hand. They briefly eye the people using their picks, but other than that, nothing.

The Throh in the center is beginning to wake up from its nap, however...

...how long has it been asleep?

WELL! LOOKS LIKE THAT APPEASING HAS ALL BEEN FOR NAUGHT!

Barnaby quickly backs up towards the cave entrance as to not appear as a trespasser and waits to be formally addressed by the waking pokemon.
